Cellulite is a skin condition that affects about 80% of
women over the age of 20. Cellulite causes the
skin to take on a lumpy, dimpled appearance that
resembles the outside of an orange peel. This
skin condition is most commonly found on the thighs,
hips, stomach and buttocks. Genes, age, gender,
body fat and thickness of skin all factor into
the presence of cellulite. Contrary to popular
belief, this condition does not result from being
overweight; those with slim figures will often
have the same cellulite symptoms. Cellulite mostly
results from poor circulation, enlarged fat cells
and defective connective tissue.
Cellulite develops below the epidermis in the
subcutaneous level of skin tissue. Fat cells found
in this skin level are arranged in chambers and
surrounded by connective tissue. When the body
retains water, the fat cells expand within their
chambers and stretch the connective tissue. This
connective tissue will eventually harden, causing
the effected skin to diminish in elasticity, while
the non-effected skin continues to expand around
it. This results in the skin having a lumpy appearance.
In today’s society there are many different
remedies for this skin condition. None have been
found to have a permanent cure, but they do make
a cellulite-free body an immense possibility.
The three most common procedures used to reduce
cellulite are Endermologie, Mesotherapy and TriActive LaserDermology.
Endermologie:
Endermologie is a type of massage that focuses
on temporarily ridding the body of cellulite. This massage therapy was originally used as a
deep tissue massage for injured horses, but it
was quickly discovered that the therapy resulted
in smoother skin. Nowadays, Endermologie is used
in a series of treatments in order to alleviate
the body of cellulite.
Endermologie is performed by using therapeutic
massagers that stimulate various layers of the
skin. Each patient wears a specifically designed
body stocking. This provides the best access for
treatment. The massager uses mild suction to pull
at the skin through the stocking in order to gently
roll and pinch it. This concentrated massage works
to break down subcutaneous fat, reduce water retention
and rid the body of toxins. When this is done,
collagen production is normalized and circulation
is increased allowing for less build up and ultimately
softer, firmer skin.
A single treatment will not completely alleviate
the body of cellulite. The skin will take on a
fresher, firmer appearance, but it will only last
for a few days. It is recommended that patients
receive up to 15 treatments in order to sufficiently
ward off the return of cellulite to the body.
This massage therapy is not a cure for cellulite,
but when incorporated into your daily life, it
will keep the skin healthy and cellulite free.
Mesotherapy:
Mesotherapy is a safe, non-invasive procedure
used to treat cellulite, improve overall skin
tone and decrease wrinkles. Mesotherapy uses microinjections
to deliver vitamins, minerals and amino acids
into the mesoderm or middle layer of the skin.
This is done in order to promote metabolism, stimulate
the production of collagen and elastin and nourish
and revitalize the skin.
This cellulite reduction procedure can be very beneficial to the
body. It improves blood flow, dissolves excess
fat deposits and removes hardened connective tissue.
Patients generally see results after the first
treatment, but it can take anywhere from 10 to
15 treatments in order to break up the existing
cellulite. After the procedure some patients do
experience mild bruising, but it clears up within
a week. This procedure is often used in the treatment
of cellulite because it is quick, easy and requires
no down time. After the procedures are complete,
patients should return every six months or so
for follow-ups.
TriActive LaserDermology:
Many cellulite reduction treatments have been developed, but it was only with the introduction of the laser, that cellulite reduction treatments truly became effective. The Cynosure TriActive LaserDermology system is the newest technology for the temporary reduction in the appearance of cellulite. The TriActive LaserDermology employs a triple action technology that works to restore normal balance to both inner and outer layers of skin. This new treatment works to reduce cellulite appearance through the combination of massage, localized cooling and laser stimulation.
The TriActive LaserDermology triple action technology utilizes deep laser action in order to enhance microcirculation. The mechanical massage works to stimulate action within the subcutaneous tissue in order to bring about tighter skin in the treatment area. The combination of these methods works to enhance overall body contour and significantly reduce the outer appearance of cellulite. The procedure is painless and works much more effectively than traditional cellulite treatments. 10- 15 closely spaced treatments can work wonders for the visible reduction of cellulite on the body.
…
Endermologie and Mesotherapy are the two most
common procedures used to alleviate cellulite,
but Laser Cellulite Reduction is quickly becoming the fastest and most effective method for the alleviation of cellulite. There are a few other methods for cellulite reduction that are also in practice today.
Using essential oils and self massage techniques
can visibly reduce the amount of cellulite within
the body. Incorporating caffeine into your diet
is also another way. Cellulite is something that
most post-pubescent women have to deal with, so
it is best to remember you are not alone. Cellulite
is something that cannot be cured, but undergoing
treatments, maintaining an active lifestyle and
continuing a healthy diet are all ways to significantly
reduce your chances of cellulite formation. |
