Cosmoderm and Cosmoplast are collagen dermal fillers that are injected just below the skin’s surface in order to smooth out wrinkles and fine lines. These two skin fillers are unique because they are made from actual human collagen. As we age, lines and wrinkles slowly become more
apparent. There are many remedies that can solve
the problem of unwanted wrinkles, but none quite
like Cosmoderm and Cosmoplast.
The Procedure:
While other injections inhibit muscle movement
in order to smooth wrinkles, Cosmoderm and Cosmoplast
are injected below the skins surface and actually
fill in the lines and wrinkles. The most common
areas treated with Cosmoderm and Cosmoplast are
frown lines between the eyes, smile lines around
the nose and mouth, lines above the mouth, acne
scars and the border around the lips.
Cosmoderm is used to fill fine lines and Cosmoplast
is used to fill deeper furrows and scars. In both
instances, fine needles will be injected directly
below the skins surface in order to insert the
collagen. This can be repeated in as many locations
as necessary. Once completed, patients should
start to see their results immediately.
Does it Hurt?
Cosmoderm and Cosmoplast procedures are very
quick and require no downtime. Patients will
be able to resume normal activities immediately
following their treatment. For the most part,
Cosmoderm and Cosmoplast injections will be relatively
painless. Both fillers do contain a small amount
of litocane which is a numbing ailment. This will
help reduce the pain associated with the collagen
injections. Some patients may experience swelling
and redness immediately following their injections,
but both should subside within an hour.
Risks:
Using human collagen, Cosmoderm and Cosmoplast
are created in controlled laboratory environments.
Because these fillers are derived directly from
human collagen, the risks of allergic reaction
and infection are significantly lower when compared
to other cosmetic fillers. Other risks associated
with collagen injections include skin peeling
and lumpiness near the injection site. These risks
are rare and usually very minor; however, it is
important to discuss all risks with your physician
before undergoing collagen injection treatments.
Results:
The results of successful Cosmoderm and Cosmoplast injections
will last anywhere from 3 to 6 months. It is recommended
that patients should receive touch up treatments
every 2 to 3 months in order to maintain their
skin’s smooth, healthy appearance. Follow
up treatments will not require as many injections
as the initial treatments; they simply keep the
skin firm and wrinkle free. If patients stop their
collagen injection treatments, the collagen will
eventually be absorbed into the body and the face
will return to its natural state. Patients receiving
regular collagen injection treatments can live
happy lives with healthy, wrinkle free skin.
