Permanent
cosmetics or micropigmentation is a cosmetic procedure
that can be used to enhance facial features and
correct skin pigmentation problems. This treatment
has become a popular alternative to conventional
makeup. Many women suffer from ailments that may
hinder their ability to apply makeup on a daily
basis. Individuals with skin disorders, poor eyesight,
poor hand-eye coordination, allergies to cosmetic
products and even those who just don’t have
enough time in the day to apply make up, can all
benefit from this procedure.
The Procedures:
The permanent cosmetic procedure is a non-surgical
treatment that is very similar to getting a tattoo.
Fine needles are used to inject the pigment into
the skin. The needles are most often attached
to a coil machine, the same used for applying
tattoos, but sometimes a rotary machine is used
instead. Permanent makeup procedures most often
include eyebrow definition, eyeliner and eyelash
enhancement and lip liner and lip color.
Eyebrows:
Eyebrow definition is often used by those who
have little or no natural eyebrows. This permanet makeup procedure
can work to open up the face and enhance the eyes.
Micropigmentation of the eyebrows can add shape,
symmetry and fullness to your eyebrows as well
as darken eyebrow color for those with lighter
hair and those who have lost eyebrow hair due
to injury or age. During the procedure, pigment
is implanted in fine hair strokes using tones
that naturally blend with existing hair. When
performing this procedure, no stencil is used;
instead technicians follow your natural bone structure
in order to design brows that will complement
your facial features. Those suffering from partial
or no eyebrows will be amazed with the results
this procedure can produce. Women finally have
the ability to have perfectly permanent natural
eyebrows.
Eyes:
Many women face the problem of not being able
to perfectly apply eye makeup. We all want our
eyes to look more alluring, but getting that perfect
look is sometimes just too difficult. This procedure
involves applying color to the eyes using the
same treatment that tattoo artists use to apply
permanent tattoos. The applicator used is specially
designed for permanent cosmetics; it allows for
the highest degree of control. Permanent eyeliner
is applied along the upper and lower eyelash margin,
which is in between the eyelashes. It enhances
the eyes and allows for a more natural, fuller
eyelash look. If you are going for a more dramatic
look, color can be placed above the lashes as
well as in between them. Eyeliner and eyelash
enhancement works to provide fuller lashes and
a more natural overall look. Depending on color
and eyeliner design, this permanent cosmetic procedure can give a
whole new shape to the eyes.
Lips:
Anyone who has ever worn lipstick knows that
no matter how the companies claim 8 hour protection,
it doesn’t work. Reapplication is a regularly
used word in any woman’s vocabulary. For
some, having to constantly touch up lip liner
and lipstick is too much of a hassle. Permanent cosmetic
lip procedures can put an end to all that. Procedures
involving the lips are often done to provide enhancement
and maintain even tone and color. The lip procedures
involve either having lip color applied only as
lip liner or having the entire lip area filled
for a lipstick effect. The lip liner option contours
and reshapes the lips for a more defined look
and the lipstick option provides more even lip
tones. Most women combine both of these options
when having cosmetic lip procedures. Any lip procedure
can allow the lips to maintain permanent natural
color which can enhance the face and create a
more sensual look.
Will It Hurt?
Before the permanent cosmetics procedure, most physicians apply topical anesthetic cream
to the area being treated in order to minimize
pain; however, a few patients will still feel
some discomfort. Discomfort levels will vary depending
on where the procedure is being performed. Areas
that are close to bones or major organs are more
likely to cause increased discomfort. When the
needles penetrate the skin, some bleeding will
occur, but this will cease shortly after the procedure.
What Results Can I Expect?
Depending on the area being treated, the procedure
time will vary, but most last about an hour. The
treated area will be swollen for 2 or 3 days after
the surgery. A scab will form over the treated
skin and will heal within 7 to 10 days. While
the skin is healing, it is best to keep it clean
and moist with an antibiotic cream. It is also
recommended to keep the treated area out of direct
sunlight because light will cause the pigment
to fade.
About a month after the procedure a follow up
appointment will be needed and will most likely
involve making any needed adjustments in order
to provide maximum results. If all goes well,
the results should last for several years. Sunlight
as well as other natural elements can cause the
pigment to fade over time, so repeat procedures
every few years will help to keep the make up
looking fresh and new. Permanent cosmetic procedures are
a great way to permanently achieve younger and
more composed appearances. |
