Photo Facial Information

PhotoFacial is one of the most advanced non-invasive cosmetic technologies for improving the appearance of Rosacea, reducing redness, flushing and broken capillaries, repairing sun damaged skin, skin texture and age spots. This non-invasive, non-surgical technique results in the production of smoother, healthier looking skin. Photo Facial has become increasingly popular because it is quick, easy and provides almost immediate results.

How It Works:

The PhotoFacial procedure utilizes pulsed light technology, which is similar to laser technology but differs slightly. When a laser is used, it uses one continuous light wavelength which is penetrated into the deeper tissue layers of the skin, Pulsed Light uses multiple wavelengths of light, which, when delivered into the skin, are energy concentrated at all different tissue levels. This allows the light to be absorbed by the melanin in the skin therefore encouraging the production of collagen.

As we age, our bodies produce less collagen. When the gentle pulses of light are directed into the skin, the heat causes damage to the vessels, triggering the body to begin its natural healing process. When the skin is cut or bruised, the body produces collagen in order to heal. This procedure causes the body to naturally produce more collagen in order to heal the skin.

The PhotoFacial procedure is safe to use on the face, neck, chest and even hands. Treatments usually occur about every three weeks, and can take anywhere from fifteen minutes to a half an hour. During Photo Facial treatments the pulsed light energy is delivered into the skin at different and specific settings in order to maximize results. It could take up to five treatments in order to achieve a patients' desired outcome, but some have had as many as eight treatments.

Is It Painful?

Few patients experience discomfort while the pulsed light is being administered. Anesthesia can be used if patients request it, but is not required. After the Photo Facial procedure, most patients’ levels of discomfort were minimal to non-existent. Some patients experienced slightly flushed skin and capillaries that were slightly more visible but the color faded quickly and the capillaries seemed to vanish.

What Will My Results Be?

The results of the Photo Facial treatment include a more even tone and overall smoothness of the skin which leads to a more youthful appearance. Photo Facial also restores sun damaged skin and aids in the reduction of wrinkles, fine lines and flushing as well as redness that is sometimes related to Rosacea. This procedure is a safe, non-surgical way to minimize the effects of aging and retain a more healthy and youthful complexion.
